Many of the works we do in the environmental and social sustainability field seek to bring about “socially-desirable” changes. In nature, the magnitude and pace of change depends on the inertia of the system to be influenced- be it physical or social. The better we understand this inertia, the better our chances will be to design and manage successful change processes.
